I just wanted to take a minute to write and thank you and your staff for the excellent facility that you staff and maintain at Gloucester. I have belonged to many athletic clubs over the years as work and moves have taken my wife and I to different locations. Your club has one factor that sets it above all of the other clubs, cleanliness and a great staff. I only know Andrew personally, since he has been at the club during many of my visits and he was a member of a waitstaff in a location my wife and I have patronized. I have witnessed him working the desk, wiping down machines, changing shower curtains, vacuuming the rugs, checking sanitizer levels and interacting with the clients. I have also observed you at the front desk extend a cheery greeting to many of the clients who you address by name. You have a certain “upbeat” personality that sets the right tone for the MAC. There are days that a workout is something to look forward to and there are some days that you force yourself in the door. The right word on those tough days can change a mood considerably. I use both Manchester and Gloucester. I tend to use Gloucester for the weight training and close proximity to my home. You and your staff should be proud of your efforts on behalf of the members and the work you do every day. I do appreciate your effort.

MAC Fit Gloucester has something no other gym has...the employees. I’ve lost 50 pounds since October 31 2017, and I couldn’t have done it with out the support of Marcy and her team. They made me feel accountable to them to reach my goals. I didn’t want to let them down by losing focus! They supported me and motivated me every step of the way.
I’ve belonged to a lot of gyms over the years and none of them have had a staff that cares more about their members than MAC Fit Gloucester. Thank you Marcy. Thank you Andrew. Thank you Jill. Thank you Ken.
I’ve been going to MAC fitness gloucester steady for the past 3 years. It offers 24/7 access so it’s never overly crowded. There’s plenty of cardio equipment and no waiting. The vibe is warm and positive thanks to Marcy Plante and her crew.
Having not been a member of a club for over 30 years, I was skeptical about joining a facility. However, MAC-Gloucester manager Marcy Plante’s infectious Joie de Vivre, and the friendly and courteous staff convinced me otherwise! They are very welcoming, helpful and maintain the equipment and cleanliness of the facility with utmost care. Not only am I fitter, but I have also had the bonus of making new friends and acquaintances.

Recently I told a great friend of mine about MAC - he was really interested in what I said and he joined! Canceled his membership at [another gym] and joined MAC and tells me that he is grateful for my encouragement. I shared about the place, the people - how helpful all are - the affordable price, the great location, parking - the cleanliness all over.. the great locker room... etc..

I have been going to the MAC in Gloucester for a couple of years and love it! I feel very comfortable working out there, the place is clean, well equipped and the staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommended the MAC to all my family and friends!
Stan and I have enjoyed our Summer membership at MAC very much. The experience at the gymn has been first class and just what we were looking for. Alicia was a great trainer for us. The gym was always very clean and orderly and the staff helpful. We look forward to returning next Summer.

Personal Trainers + Instructors

Carol Figurido - Master Personal Trainer

After raising three children and overcoming a breast cancer diagnosis, Carol found her passion in fitness.  Realizing that being fit would help lower the risk of a cancer reoccurrence, it became a way of life.  Carol has worked previously as the Director of Group Fitness, and now as a Master Personal Trainer and group fitness instructor for over 20 years.  She holds certifications through the American Council on Exercise, Stott Pilates, Indoor cycling, Reebock Coreboard, Resist-a-ball, Total Barre, and Fitness Resources Association.  Carol has a specialty in working with clients with balance issues, Multiple Sclerosis, arthritis, and recovery from breast cancer surgery and reconstruction.  Carol's aim is to help people gain optical muscular-skeletal performance through strength, flexibility, and endurance resulting in a balanced and aligned body and thereby improving quality of life.  In her spare time, Carol enjoys playing golf, reading, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Ken Olson - Master Personal Trainer

Ken has worked at the Manchester Athletic Club since 2008 as a personal trainer.  When the MAC Fitness in Gloucester opened Ken relocated there and became a Master Trainer.  Ken is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine.  Ken also holds a bachelor’s degree in health fitness management and a master’s degree in sports management.  Ken is a certified TRX instructor and you’ll find him teaching classes regularly at MAC Fitness Gloucester.  An exercise program done consistently rather than infrequently gives us the ability to meet life’s daily challenges with greater success and working with Ken on a regular basis will help you reach those goals.  The scenic beauty of Cape Ann, along with great friends and his loyal cat of many years, inspires Ken to help individuals of all populations reach their fitness goals

Alicia Drury - Yoga Instructor

Alicia Drury has been teaching private and group yoga since 2003 (Yoga Alliance Certified).  After years away from the gym, her participation in the Commit to Get Fit program at the MAC rekindled her interest in weight training.  Finding that her knowledge of alignment translated easily to training, she decided to expand her skills and earn her personal training certification (NASM '14) to train others.  Her underlying training philosophy is to help clients maintain a high level of strength and mobility whether they are an athlete, a weekend warrior, an avid gardner, or just want to move in comfort and with ease.  She is also a Qualified TRX group and individual instructor (TRX) and has her Senior Fitness Specialiazation certification (NASM).  Aside from individual training and teaching yoga at the MAC, she has also coached teenagers in our Summer SPI program.  When she's not working, she loves being outdoors, hiking, snowshoeing, paddleboarding, and, of course, weight training and yoga.

Ron Desisto - Personal Trainer

Ron is a WITS Certified Personal Trainer and Northeastern University graduate. As an avid mountain biker, skier, and trail runner, he learned over the years that the best way to get over an injury is to prevent it from happening.  An exercise program should not only help performance but also prevent injury. By working from the core out and strengthening the body as a whole, injury can be prevented in sport and everyday activities. He brings out the best in clients by developing exciting routines that suit each individual’s goal and works to help attain a more fulfilling life.
