Self Care for the Holidays
With the holiday season fast approaching, this is the best time to start boosting your immune system and practice some self care. As the weather turns colder, we want to include more warm, nourishing food in our diets. Be sure to use herbs like fresh ginger in all of your favorite recipes. Ginger is high in antioxidants, it is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory.
Garlic is another herb with many medicinal properties, it is anti-bacterial, boosts immunity and is just plain delicious! Add whole garlic cloves to your roasted vegetables or include it in your slow cooked meals.
Quercetin is a flavonoid found in red wine, tea, onions, kale, broccoli, apples and berries. It is your main resource to fight against retroviruses, parainfluenza, and respiratory syncytial viruses. It is available in supplement form as well.
Keep stress levels low, by taking time each day for yourself; to be in nature or whatever it is that brings you joy! Get plenty of quality sleep and stick to your regular exercise routine. Self care is key!
