MAC Wellness is an integral part of the Mac Fitness Department at Manchester Athletic Club. The two departments work together to design an individualized fitness and nutrition plan that is both realistic and sustainable. Our comprehensive approach can assist you with managing many medical conditions and to create sustainable lifestyle changes.

Our team of coaches are professionally trained in providing nutrition therapy for medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, gastrointestinal issues, food allergies and intolerances. We also address disordered eating, stress management, anxiety disorders, addictions and life transitions. We offer preventative, restorative and sustainable health solutions that will address the needs of the whole person. New members receive a Comprehensive Wellness Assessment to review all pertinent lifestyle factors affecting their health. Two follow up assessments are provided to review your customized plan and to provide you with measurable results. We are skilled at motivating you to achieve your health and fitness goals.

WELLNESS CONSULTATION

Our Wellness Consultation is designed to help you identify fitness and nutritional goals and map a plan for success.

During your appointment, we will provide you with an accurate analysis of body composition and make recommendations on how to improve your overall health and level of fitness. We will determine your caloric needs for weight loss or make recommendations on nutrient timing for sports specific training. Our Consultants can provide you with the latest information on health related fitness.

From here we develop an appropriate workout plan that will decrease fat and increase lean muscle mass. We also screen for pre-existing medical conditions, current medications and injuries and modify workout and nutrition plans accordingly. Two follow up assessments are provided to review your customized plan and to provide you with measurable results.

Marlene is a professional in the health and wellness field who currently holds degrees and certifications in Psychology, Wellness Coaching, Sports Nutrition and Food as Medicine. Marlene has a proven abilility to provide coaching, consultation, and referral services to clients managing various health and wellness conditions.  Marlene believes in cultivating partnerships that motivate clients to create lifestyle changes that lead to optimal health and wellbeing. She is skilled in identifying and providing relevant community and health care resources that support the client’s customized wellness plan. Marlene continues to study with a team of holistic professionals and implements a wide variety of health and wellness services. These initiatives include, coaching, nutrition, sports nutrition, Food as Medicine, mindful eating, healthy weight management, motivation/visualization/goal setting, ergonomics, stress management/self-care, anxiety, core beliefs, meditation, time management, life/work./leisure balance, life transitions.

DARREN BURKE

MS Exercise Science and Nutrition

Personal Trainer

Darren Burke holds a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition from Sacred Heart University; in addition he is a certified Health Coach through the American Council of Exercise and a certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Darren is passionate about his work and strives to give his clients the information they need to maximize their workouts and obtain measurable results. In 2016, Darren launched his own lifestyle modification course called 80/20 Balance. This 12 week course provides relevant nutrition information and introduces members to various modes of exercise.  The class is taught in a small group setting and includes , pre and post goal setting and assessments, a mid point check in and two personal training sessions.   Darren believes that with knowledge comes success! Darren is also a licensed nutritionist and assist you with healthy weight management, food intolerances and sensitivities and make recommendations on nutrient dense food combinations.
